What Is Celebrating Homecare?

In the past 18 months, there has been an outpouring of support and appreciation for carers, so what better time to launch Celebrating Homecare Day to celebrate the difference homecare makes in people’s lives.

The very first Celebrating Homecare Day will be taking place on Wednesday 22nd September and this year’s theme is #MadeWithCare which is inspired by popular TV shows such as The Great British Sewing Bee, Great British Bake Off and the Repair Shop. The day will celebrate the things care workers and their clients make and create at home and the relationships they develop because of it.

How To Take Part in #MadeWithCare

This could be anything from baking a cake to writing poetry, artwork, knitting, sewing, jigsaws or even producing TikTok videos! Celebrate the things you make together on the day by getting involved on social media using the hashtag #MadeWithCare to share videos, pictures or words of your creations.

For inspiration, here are some ideas to start you off:

  • Bake a cake, cookies or cupcakes
  • Knit a scarf
  • Do a TikTok dance
  • Record a short film
  • Make a quilt
  • Embroidery
  • Dress making
  • Sketch
  • Paint
  • Pottery
  • Poetry
  • Collaging

Promoting and Taking Part in Celebrating Homecare Day

If you would like any graphics, posters or further information about the campaign and to help you promote or celebrate the day then visit www.celebratinghomecare.org.uk

The aim of the day is to celebrate the difference that homecare makes in people’s lives, raise awareness of the value that receiving and giving care at home has, championing our homecare workers as skilled professionals and promote homecare as a profession.

Who is Behind Celebrating Homecare Day?

The day is an initiative that has been developed by the United Kingdom Home Care Association (UKHCA) in conjunction with the Care Workers’ Charity and it is hoped Celebrating Homecare will become an annual event with a different theme each year.

Jane Townson, CEO of UKHCA commented: “Homecare workers have been a lifeline for many people throughout the past 18 months, showing real selflessness and resilience in providing invaluable support to people in their own homes in incredibly challenging times.

“But the work they do is always important – not just throughout the pandemic. Homecare services benefit all of us: people who receive and give services, their families, health services and our wider communities.

“Their roles deserve to be celebrated now, and increasingly into the future.”

How Live In Solutions is Taking Part
